The Abington Rotary Club is supporting an initiative to organize a memory cafe’ to support Alzheimers patients in the Abington, Rockland, and Whitman area.

The concept of a neighborhood memory cafe has gained popularity as a place where individuals suffering from memory loss and their caregivers can get together in a safe, supportive and engaging environment.

We are inviting representatives to discuss such a service. We feel that a combined effort in these three communities would lessen the burden on individual senior centers. Meetings for the cafe could be rotated between Abington Rockland and Whitman so that  each senior center could host once every three months.

The Abington Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at D’Ann’s restaurant at 6:30 pm with the exception of the first Tuesday of the month when breakfast meets are held at Martin’s Restaurant in Abington. We are proposing a meeting in October to discuss ideas to develop this initiative. Interested in getting involved with the Memory Cafe concept? Contact
