Abington Rotary Club Presents a Benefit Dinner/Theater Evening Featuring History At Play’s One-Woman Show Honoring the Educational Pioneer and Teacher In Space

The Abington Rotary Club to host a fund-raising dinner/theater presentation on Saturday, February 29, at the Abington Senior Center,  441 Summer Street. 

Judith Kalaora, Founder and Artistic Director of History At Play, has garnered nationwide attention for her living history performances, chronicling the lives of legendary women.  Her performances have received accolades from journalists, actors, and historians alike and have earned statewide and national recognition. Now, the Abington Rotary Club is sponsoring her acclaimed one-woman performance, CHALLENGER: Soaring with Christa McAuliffe on February 29, 2020 at the Abington Senior Center (441 Summer Street, Abington, MA  02351), for a benefit dinner/theater performance. Dinner and cash bar in the dining area at 5:30 pm followed by History At Play’s inspiring performance in the presentation hall. 

This is the second History at Play presentation featuring Ms. Kalaora and sponsored by the Abington Rotary Club. Those who attended her first presentation in November 2018, were impressed and entertained by her compelling one-woman performance.   

Thie performance of CHALLENGER: Soaring with Christa McAuliffe features Judith Kalaora as the educational pioneer and internationally recognized Teacher in Space. Kalaora renews McAuliffe’s legacy in this multi-media immersive performance experience, suitable for all ages. CHALLENGER: Soaring with Christa McAuliffe pays homage to the United States’ Teacher in Space Program and the crew of the NASA space shuttle. This program was honored by the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives and is produced with the support and approval of both the McAuliffe and Corrigan Families.  

Tickets for the dinner and theatrical presentation are $30 and are available through the Abington Senior Center, Bemis Pharmacy at 6 Brighton Street in Abington or by sending a request to abingtonrotaryclub@gmail.com. Tickets will also be available at the door, but this event will have limited seating. All funds raised from the event will support the many philanthropic and charitable initiatives of the Abington Rotary Club within the local community.   

Kalaora has been featured in many news media outlets, including Chronicle HD, WBZ Radio, The Framingham Tab, WACA-TV, The Concord Monitor, and The Washington Times. Jordan Rich, of WBZ Radio, states, “She’s a one woman force of nature and inhabits these women…it takes people like Judith to bring these stories to life…these lost pieces of history. ”  The Metrowest Daily News said of her performance debut, “marvelous…fantastic…taken with Kalaora's performance. ‘Not only did she present it so you believe she was Christa, but I learned things I didn't know…’”
